Located in a historic square that once hosted a fruit and vegetable market in the port city of Cartagena, Magoga is the establishment that was dreamed of by María Gómez and Adrián de Marcos. These two young professionals left their homes to train together alongside the great masters of contemporary cuisine. María fronts the kitchen and Adrián manages the dining room and the wine cellar (of more than 300 varieties). Together they have managed to position their restaurant as one of the top gastronomic locations in the Murcia region with a Sol Repsol (which they won in 2019), the recommendation of the Michelin Guide and the praise of restaurant critics.
María’s cuisine, which was born in Fuente Álamo (Murcia), is sensitive, slow, without frills and in continuous evolution, in which tradition and avant-garde techniques converge and whose muse is the landscape of Cartagena. Her dishes are full of flavour and aesthetic beauty. She uses the freshest fish and seafood of the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor, fruit and vegetables that grow on the banks of the Segura River, meat from the local region and other ingredients from the land that are always chosen at the moment of perfect ripeness.
Her particular style has placed María, who was a finalist for the Madrid Fusión 2019 Cocinero Revelación Award, among the cooks with the greatest culinary trajectory.
In Magoga they take great care of, not only in the kitchen, all the details that create a culinary experience: from the wine cellar and the dining room service to their impressive selection of cheeses, all selected by Adrián himself, who holds, among other distinctions, the Best Sommelier in Murcia Award 2018.
Like María’s cuisine, the decoration of the space is sophisticated and is inspired by the omnipresent Mediterranean Sea, which can be seen in the murals of schools of fish and the wallpaper of stones that dress the walls. As well as in the thick velvet sand-coloured curtains and in the giant hand-made paper fish.
The establishment has a main dining room with a capacity of 30 people, as well as a private room for 10 (which can be adapted for meetings and events) and an intimate lounge, ideal for couples or small groups, which houses only two tables.
